The Slingbox allows for video streaming of Television, DVR, and many other home theater devices through the internet and to your mobile Car PC. Simply connect a Slingbox to various inputs from your home theater system and you can now watch anything that you could at home anywhere you have an internet connection via use of Slingplayer. Slingbox provides superior video signal than a traditional RF antenna based TV tuner as it quality is not affected by the distance you are from local Television towers, instead the video signal is routed to the internet and can be received by a data card from a cellular phone provider (or tether to your internet enabled phone). HD Radio
HD Radio is the next tier of terrestrial radio technology, giving listeners a much cleaner sound and a larger selection of stations. HD Radio uses multicasting which allows for one station (i.e. FM 101.9) to have multiple HD Radio stations within the same broadcast (i.e. FM 101.9 HD1 Hip-Hop and FM 101.9 HD2 Talk Radio). Not all stations use HD Radio but some radio stations have as many have 5 multicasting stations all playing different flavors of music. Centrafuse
Software is an essential part of a Car PC system as using just Windows XP in a driving environment is not practical. Then there is the matter of finding a GPS program with maps, a media playing software, and host of others. Flux Media has solved that issue by developing Centrafuse Mobile Desktop. Centrafuse is what the Car PC community calls “Frond End” software, basically it is the software “in front” of Windows which allows for easy user interaction.
